Hair Replacement Wiki
Human Hair
Human hair is, as the name suggests, real human hair. Human hair can be styled normally and cared for with common sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners.
Hair integration
Hair integration is a hairpiece that is semi-permanently attached to the natural hair or scalp. Different attachment methods can be used for this purpose. Often these are bondings, which are connected to the natural hair with pressure or heat. Adhesive strips or skin-compatible glue are also used for attachment. Hair integration is usually applied by second hair specialists and must be reattached every four to 6 weeks. A salon must be visited for this and the attachment will be charged.
Hairpiece
A hairpiece is a very general term for foreign hair that is attached to your own hair in different ways. This is to make thin hair appear thicker or to conceal hair loss.
Kippah Fall
The kippah is a Jewish head covering worn by Jewish men during worship to show their humility. Since women in Orthodox Judaism are supposed to cover their heads after marriage, many Jewish communities use the Kippah Fall as an aid. This is a hairpiece in the shape of a kippah that is meant to completely cover a woman's natural hair. In shape, it strongly resembles a topper and can also be used to cover hair loss.
Lace Wig
A lace wig refers to a wig with a "film attachment". Originally, this was developed for theatrical backs to provide a natural transition from the forehead to the hairline. The Lace is glued to the forehead so that at a distance it looks as if the hair is growing directly from the scalp. Theater Lace, however, due to its coarseness, is not suitable for daily use in hair loss. Swiss Lace is used here, which is much finer. However, gluing the lace to the scalp requires practice and is quite laborious.
Monofilament
Monofilament is a fabric that can be used to make a montur. On this fabric, the hairs are tied up one by one.
Montour
A wig or hairpiece is made of a fabric on which the hair is attached one by one. It is made of a fabric onto which the hair is individually strung or sewn in braids.
Wig
A wig covers the entire head from the hairline to the nape of the neck. They are suitable for people with complete hair loss, with large bald patches, or as an accessory. Wigs can be made of human hair, synthetic hair, or even buffalo hair (the latter only for theatrical wigs). The hair is knotted individually, sewn on in braids, or attached to the outfit in a combination of both methods.
PU strips
PU strips are polyurethane adhesive strips used to attach wigs, hairpieces, and toupees.
Remy hair
Remy hair (also: Remi hair) is hair that has been cut from the donor's head in the natural direction of growth. This is so important because otherwise the cuticle of the hair that runs against the direction of growth can get tangled.
Silktop
A silktop is a makeup that consists of a layer of tulle (or lace) onto which the hair is tied individually. To hide the noticeable knots, the hair is then pulled through a piece of silk fabric. This gives the impression that the hair is growing directly from the scalp.
Synthetic hair
Synthetic hair consists of artificial fibers that mimic the look and feel of real hair. Unless it is heat-resistant synthetic hair, hairpieces, and wigs made of these fibers cannot be styled with heat. They are therefore fixed in their styling. Heat-resistant synthetic hair can be straightened and curled.
Topper
Topper is basically just the English name for a hairpiece that is attached to the head by clips or glue. It consists of a frame to which the hair is attached individually or in braid form.
Toupee
Toupets are in common parlance hairpieces for men. They are commonly referred to as half-wigs, which are intended to cover the typical areas of male hair loss (the back of the head and forehead). A toupee is usually attached with adhesive strips or skin-friendly glue.
Braid
A braid refers to a string on which many individual hairs have been sewn. This makes it easy to sew a relatively large amount of hair onto hairpieces and wigs.
Virgin Hair
Virgin hair is human hair that has not been dyed, bleached, permed or straightened. It is completely chemically untreated.
